by Poetic Postal. Person

This is an excellent work of poetry written by one of our patrons. Reading this made me feel like I got to know their heart more and their love for God.

Cover Girls
by T. D. Jakes

Jakes, a megachurch pastor, writes nonfiction much better than fiction. To be fair, this book was his first work of fiction, but a lot was lacking such as character development. Half the time, the book rambled on like a church sermon. More talk, less action and dialogue. The ending was lacking a bit and felt like a cliffhanger.

I think every teenager and 20’s should be required to read this book. Good for couples about to get married and for married couples. Listen all the way through. I almost quit a few times but was glad I did not at the end.

Tortuga
by Rudolfo Anaya

This book was a slow read with lots of symbolism and dreams. I wasn't always sure whether Tortuga, the protagonist was dreaming or if he was experiencing what could be a dream. The gist of the whole story was Tortuga's process from paralysis due to an accident to moving forward.

As it the title, this book was mostly written for preachers. But anyone who wants to know the importance of prayer would be wise to read this book.

If you want more than just fire insurance. If you want to be a real and effective Christian, this is the book for you. I took a 13 week course on this book in the 99’s. I love this revised version even more. Read and grow.

Embrace The Struggle

It was a good book and and challenging one to complete. It has its highs and its lows. So some parts I was happy to be finished with. One thing I get from the book. Everyone has struggles. I am not the only one. It is my job to overcome the struggles.

Acts I, II and III: A memoir
by Lynne Pitcaithley

This memoir was written by a former Carlsbad resident who was an influential educator for 50 years, very active in local theater, and had a great passion for animals. This passion got her a position on the local shelter board and well into her 90s, Mrs. Pitcaithley volunteered many hours to the Cat's Meow thrift store which helped raise money for the local shelter. I had the privilege to meet Mrs. Pitcaithley when she was in her 90s. She was there at the mall or PetSense when Mr. School dressed as Santa and posed with the pets for pictures. She autographed the copy of the book I just read and it's definitely a keeper.

A very interesting audio collection about a little girl named Eloise who lives at the plaza on the top floor. She has a nanny who’s English and repeats her words 3 times and a weeny dog. She talks and trolls the plaza getting into lots of interesting situations.
